This class will focus on core strength and free movement. Students will be given an opportunity to choreograph and dance without any pressure to be examined or assessed. A fun movement class for those who love to dance and want to firm up the body.
POP UP at Chichester Festival Theatre 10.00 - 11.00am
Pop Up Junior Ages 5-7 (School yrs - Reception - 2)
This class works on developing listening skills and interpretation through storytelling and play. Through fun theatre games and play children develop concentration, team building,
trust and confidence for both the individual and the group as a whole.
Musical Theatre at Chichester Festival Theatre 11.00 - 12.00pm
Musical Theatre 6 - 9 yrs (School yrs 2 - 5)
This class combines movement and song and works toward performing a musical theatre piece at the end of each term. This is a fun class and is suitable
for all levels and abilities.
POP UP at Chichester Festival Theatre 12.00 - 1.00pm
Pop Up Seniors Ages 8 - 10 (School yrs 3 - 5)
This group work on developing key stage skills further. They improvise, devise and analyse text on a deeper level and explore movement further and begin
to develop a link between the two. Themes tend to be more complex and thought provoking linking their literacy with emotional and social development.
(bullying, homelessness, relationships etc). This group tends to work in smaller groups more and individually too.
**PLEASE NOTE** - Classes held at CFT need to be booked and paid for directly through the CFT box office www.cft.org.uk
Fees will be invoiced within the first two weeks of the term and due soon thereafter. Payments can either be made in full or in two installments within the term.
The first installment will be due within the first two weeks of commencement of term and the remainder due within the first two weeks of the second half of term.
Participants will be required to wear comfortable clothing which allows your body form to be seen. e.g tracksuit pants and leotard or ballet tights and leotard for ballet class.
Ballet shoes or soft soled slippers with a non slip sole will be acceptable for ballet.
PLEASE NOTE: Do not purchase any uniform for the taster sessions. Hard heeled street shoes for the tap class and non-slip soft soled shoes for the classical ballet and contemporary taster sessions will be acceptable. Please contact me if you are unsure.
Classical Ballet the most formal of dance styles is known for having a graceful and ethereal quality. The class will introduce basic ballet which will build strength,
improve co-ordination and keep the mind and body active.
Contemporary Dance centres more on inventive steps performed with a lower centre of gravity. It is athletic and more demanding and will improve levels of coordination,
concentration, stamina and expression.
Tap is a rhythmical dance form which encourages an understanding of beat, time signatures and musical expression as well as co-ordination, concentration and stamina.
Theatre Studies will include speech & dialogue study, audition techniques, theatre practice and performance.
Class numbers will be limited so booking is essential.
ANGELA WATKINS Angela completed a Certificate in Performance (Dance) at the Centre for the Performing Arts in Adelaide. As a young dancer she trained in ballet, tap, acrobatics, jazz and singing and began her professional career at the age of six, performing dance shows in department stores. Angela worked professionally in dance companies within Australia with choreographers including Paul Mercurio, Jason Coleman, Graeme Watson, Jonathan Taylor and Garry Stewart. In her early 20s she commenced a successful acting career and worked as an actress in subsidised, commercial and corporate theatre, television and film prior to her migration to the UK. Once in England Angela completed a post graduate in drama at the Oxford School of Drama and whilst there was chosen to perform in The William Poel Festival at the Royal National Theatre. Subsequently she worked for a West End theatre producer prior to having her family and moving to Chichester where she has been teaching on a freelance basis. She is a member of the British Theatre Dance Association and is fully CRB/DBS checked.
